Torres del Paine – Day 3: March 16, 2017

The day came to the Ascencio Valley slowly. The sunlight first cloaked the Torres del Paine in an orange glow and then progressed to our campsite along the Ascencio River. We packed up our tents and filled our backpacks for another day on the trail. We initially retraced our steps until we gained the trail heading west and placing Lago Nordenskjold on our left. Lago Nordenskjold will be with us for the next day and a half, with its shoreline becoming accessible once we reach our next camp at Los Cuernos (The Horns). Below Almirante Nieto mountain the trail briefly changes from firm ground to mud pits attempting to swallow up our group – it came close.
